The return of Dorian Wacquez
Today I was really excited to see two comments off my posts from a dear blogger friend, Dorian. It has been a while since I’ve “talked” to him. He has been an extremely inspiring guy n someone I look up to in terms of language learning n linguistics. I got really excited and wanted to do a post about him though I have no idea what he would probably say after he reads this post. LOL.
About 2 years ago, I chanced upon Dorian’s website and was greatly impressed by the contents of his blog. If anyone is to ask me who’s the person who introduced linguistics to me, that person has to be Dorian. I still remember I was so excited after reading his posts that I actually talked about them to a close friend but I guess she must be bored since she’s not all that into languages. LOL~ I finally got to leaving a comment and asking him about putting his blog link on my blogroll. And he agreed and asked me about my blog link so I guess the rest follow suit.
One of the reasons why I really enjoy Dorian’s posts is, they are so insightful that even after I read them, I still ponder about them. His comments too, were insightful. He is seriously an amazing blogger. To me, he’s almost like a teacher (but hey, he IS a teacher. LOL). Just today, he threw me off my seat by giving me some insightful comments again. He’s like the teacher whom you go to, to talk about your research project only to realize that it’s not good enough at all. I guess, he’s that kind of figure to me. I’m quite grateful that I’ve met someone like him through blogosphere. I guess these are the reasons why I enjoy “talking” to him. I figured perhaps this is the thing about languages, that one has to constantly be “forced” to reconstruct one’s opinions or conceptions about them since it’s so difficult to define what is correct and what is wrong. To be broken and then come back with a better understanding of things.
Yeah~ Dorian is back~ and I kinda feel that I’m finally getting my act together n seriously, yes I mean, SERIOUSLY learn Korean after I read his comment. LOL~ Oh yeah~ That’s how inspiring Dorian is, almost no-nonsense, and making sure you get your act together n be serious towards your learning. Yes~ I’m so glad that Dorian is back~and am looking forward to reading more of his posts.
Do drop by his AMAZING site if you are into linguistics and read his amazing posts. Thumbs up for this amazing site.
P.S: I’m going to wake up one hour earlier tomorrow n study Korean grammar! Thanks Dorian! ^^
